Making Progress (Continued)

The hallway and the kitchen were both simpler than the bedroom, because the subfloor was dry and came up in larger pieces. The only issue was having to replace over 30 feet of band board, and to reframe the hallway.

Repairing the hallway was pretty simple and required a little bit of creative bracing to match the existing creative framing. A couple of joists had to be trimmed down due to rot and I ran new 2×6 to the band board and scabbed both sides with scrap 2×4 for support.

Most of the kitchen did not need new subfloor and we only had to patch a spot or two in the living room. I didn’t take a lot of pictures going through this, because we were anxious to get done and move on. You can see a little more on the finished subfloor when I post the after paint pictures.

I’ve been having a bit more free time lately, giving me more opportunities to post. I’ll probably continue with the shorter posts for now, as they are a little less daunting than the longer posts. Be sure to stay tuned for more posts.
